Marching Brass 2019-01-21T15:42:47-07:00

A complete line of marching brass designed around the concept of “concert sound on the field.”

Marching brassIn 1963, F.E. Olds & Son was approached with the challenge to evolve then-standard bugles into more musically-sophisticated marching instruments. Zig Kanstul, head of R&D and manufacturing at Olds, took on the task.

The first designs resulted in the creation of the original mellophone. With its success, other marching instruments quickly followed.

When Kanstul left Olds, he moved to King, where he designed a line of horns that quickly became the standard for marching brass.

Now produced under his own brand, these marching instruments have been refined from Zig’s original designs. Kanstul marching brass provides the response and durability necessary for modern field and street performance, and will enhance the musical experience for all students—from drum corps in the summer months to marching and football season in the fall.
