Friends gather for a musical salute to Zig

The Zig tribute event today went way beyond anybody’s expectations. We heard many comments along the lines of “Wow, if only Zig could be here to see this.” The Savanna High School band opened the festivities with a great performance in front of the factory. Savanna will also play at the opening of the NAMM show tomorrow.

A whole line-up of solo performances followed, backed by the incredible Citrus College Blue Note Jazz Ensemble. Soloists included Arturo Sandoval, Charly Davis, Ron King, John Thomas and Beth Mitchell (whose amazing tuba performance helped balance the trumpet-leaning flavor of the line-up). It was maybe the most spectacular jazz ensemble show ever staged inside a horn factory!

Update: The City of Anaheim media crew was there, and put together a great video.
